Each weekend, Animals Best Friends take dogs from the Independence Animal Shelter to the Independence PetSmart for Adopt-A-Pet, this gives these homeless animals more exposure to the public and hopefully a greater chance for a new life.
ABF is hosting a special event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Waterfall Park, 4501 S. Bass Pro Drive, Independence.
Animals Best Friends, KC REGAP and Ferret Rescue will all be there with their rescued and homeless animals to meet the public. Volunteers from each organization will be there to answer questions and explain the adoption process. Applications will also be available.
The following ABF “kids” are scheduled to attend this event: Sparky and Gabby, 4-month-old terrier mixes; Remmy and Gunner, 5-month-old Aussie Lab mixes; Jonathan and Ebony, 1-year-old Labradors; Bella, 2-year-old American Eskimo mix; Stormie, 2-year-old Aussie Lab mix; Bumper, 3-year-old border collie mix; Baby Girl, 10-month-old Aussie mix; and Gypsy, 5-month-old Lab mix.
There will also be Greyhounds from KC REGAP and ferrets from Ferret Rescue.
A donation barrel will be there for all three non-profit rescue groups. A detailed list is on the ABF Web site which includes dog Chow, blankets and sheets, bleach, paper towels, and Totally Ferret Food.
Please come out to Waterfall Park to meet these sweet “kids” who are looking for good homes. ABF will also have their “Save a Life Adopt a Shelter Pet” T-shirts for sale, as well as several different magnets and bumper stickers.
