When one walks into the Animals Best Friends facility one may be greeted by a beautiful yellow lab named Tori who likes to gently nibble on hands. Tori loves people and enjoys lots of attention!
Now Tori is 6 years old, she has been living at the ABF facility for several years. She deserves a family and a real home. Tori is a good dog whose prior owners just happened to be bad guardians.
At approximately 65 pounds, Tori does not think of herself as big. She is a loving girl who will sit in your lap if given the chance. Tori would love to snuggle up and watch TV with her very own human. She might even enjoy some popcorn if her new guardian wanted to share.
Years ago Tori lived in a house long enough for her to learn good manners. She is house broken and beyond the stage of tearing things up. Tori would be a good girl in a real home. She would also be a good alarm dog. Tori is leery of strangers. She would watch out windows and doors and alert her guardian to any stranger that enters her territory.
Labs tend to go through a long puppy stage. Tori is no exception. She enjoys playing with toys and fetching balls. She likes to play with puppies and smaller dogs. However she doesn’t care for cats. Tori doesn’t chase cats, she stays away from them. Poor Tori had a bad experience with a protective mother cat a few years ago. She has shied away from cats ever since.
Tori also knows several commands. She knows “off” and “sit.” Tori has learned “go to your room” from living at the ABF facility. When she wants to, she knows “leave it.” Tori also walks well on a lead and enjoys her walks with the ABF dog walkers.
I see sadness in Tori’s eyes. She minds the ABF caregivers by dutifully going to her room or to her bed, but I think she would like more from life.
I know Tori would love to have a family of her own where she could chase squirrels in her own yard; lounge in the living room with the family in the evening; or sleep on the foot of a child’s bed at night.
Tori is a sweet precious girl who needs a good home. She would really blossom in a home environment with a family of her own. Tori is a good girl and deserves a good life with a caring family.

Animals Best Friends conducts home visits to see if family members and the animal will be a good match. They also allow two week trials which helps to determine whether the match of pet and family will work in the long run.
