Hear gospel music at Blue Ridge Assembly
The Weatherfords, a gospel group, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Assembly of God. The public is invited. There will be a free-will offering.

Fall festival planned at St. Ann’s Church
St. Ann’s Church for will hold its annual fall festival from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the church, 10109 E. Lexington Ave., Independence.
It’s a day of games, moon walk, dunk tank, fun photos, kids crafts and raffles for the whole family. Father Branson will give a magic show.

‘Spiritual Renewal Week’ at The Groves
The Groves, a senior community, invites people of all faiths to a “Spiritual Renewal Week,” Sept. 28 through Oct. 2 at The Groves, 1515 W. White Oak, Independence.
The theme, “Jesus’ Parables – Then and Now,” will be presented in the mornings by Susan Skoor, supervising minister for the Community of Christ’s full-time ministers and congregations on the Pacific Coast from Alaska to Baja, California, Hawaii, and the island nations of Australia, French Polynesia, Fiji, New Caledonia, and New Zealand.
The week also offers afternoon programs, ranging from choir performances, movies, and crafts to an old-fashioned indoor campfire with songs and s’mores. Each day begins with a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. There is no fee for the programming. A buffet lunch is provided daily for $7 or $30 for five days.

Northland Cathedral wants bazaar vendors

Stone Church: ‘Going Forward Together’
Terry Snapp will speak on the theme of “Going Forward Together” at the 10:20 a.m. worship service this Sunday at the Stone Church Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence.
Snapp will be set apart as the new presiding pastor of the congregation.

A neighborhood block party will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday on the Eastgate Christian Church grounds, 4010 S. River Blvd., Independence. There will be games, prizes food and fun. Bring a folding chair and come sit under the trees for fellowship.

‘Western Round-Up’ at River Boulevard
River Boulevard Baptist Church will hold a “Western Round-Up Day” beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday with a gospel concert with Phil and Pam Morgan. A barbecue dinner will follow at noon (meat will be furnished; please bring side dishes and desserts). Pony rides will be available from 12:30 to 1 p.m.
Be sure to wear your Western duds! If there are more than 150 in attendance for the concert, it’s pie-throwing time at Brother Dan. If not, it’s a pie in the face of the deacons.

Exhibit tells the story of AIDS in a village

Evangel Temple Assembly of God is hosting the “World Vision Experience: AIDS” exhibit from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 26, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 27, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 28 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 29 at the church, 1414 E. 103rd St., Kansas City.
Visitors walk through a replica of a village and experience the effects of the AIDS pandemic as they listen to a personal audio track relating the story of one of four children. This exhibit is free. For more information, visit www.worldvision.org.


Christian rock concert in Excelsior Springs
“Creation Festival: The Tour,” is will hold a concert at Tiger Stadium, 612 Tiger Drive in Excelsior Springs at 6 p.m. Sept. 26.
