Bowers is associate pastor at Rivers of Life Church in Blue Springs, 1351 N.W. Jefferson, which is holding a free Thanksgiving dinner Saturday for those who are in need.
1 Everyone is suffering the effects of the economy these days. What is your church doing to help out this holiday season?
We are trying our best to help the community out by providing food and clothes to as many as possible. Also to encourage people not to focus on their current situation but to focus on God.
2 Is this a new program? What started it, and when is it?
This is the first time that Rivers of Life Church has done a dinner. The dinner is from 1-4 p.m. today. The dinner is something that God put on Pastor Robert McDaniel's heart awhile back.
3 Who can come to this event?
This event is meant to feed the needy, which is all of us in one way or another. So this dinner is for everyone.
4 Why did you get involved with this effort?
I believe this is what God has called all people to do in one way or another to help others. And I am going to follow behind my pastor as he follows God.
5 What can people do to help ease the difficulties everyone is experiencing this holiday season?
Show true compassion for one another. Help someone else as you would want to be help during a tough time.
