Chapel Hill collects
for pantry shelves
Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Blue Springs will be collecting on the pantry shelves, groceries and toiletries for NorthEastministers in the month of May.
Music Director Jon Gill will be teaching the adult Sunday school classes in Stone Hall on Sunday and May 13 and 20.
The class, which meets from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m., will be deciphering the meaning of some of our hymns and going over their background stories.
The Senior High Breakfast Club will meet at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at Karen Moore’s home. Contact Michelle for directions. The last meeting for this school year will be May 23 at 6:30 a.m. at Einstein Brothers.

at Nativity of Mary
Nativity of Mary Catholic Church will be selling homemade cinnamon buns after 9 a.m. Sunday at the church, 10017 E. 36th Terr., Independence. Hot out of the oven, these buns will fill your kitchen with a rich scent of cinnamon and sugar.

“Stories That Change the World: The Parables of Jesus” is a sermon series at Resurrection Blue Springs, one of the four campuses of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, based in Leawood.
There is a guest speaker, Daniel Mhone of Malawi, this Sunday. The May 13 sermon is “The Necessity of Forgiveness, followed by “The Essence of Goodness” and the May 20 sermon is “Exercises in Missing the Point.”

Ronald Yager Jr. will speak on the theme “Share Boldly” at the 10:20 a.m. worship service this Sunday at the Stone Church Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence.
Yager is a member of the Stone Church Pastorate and his pastorate responsibilities include the Scouts, Neighborhood Dinner and Restorative Justice/Prison Ministries. Methodist youth
holding garage sale
The youth group of the Independence First United Methodist Church will hold a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 12 at the church, 400 W. Maple Ave.
Household and personal items off all kinds will be available. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the activities of the youth group. Bryson Lillie is youth minister.
‘Prodigal’ showing at Abundant Life Baptist
Lyfe-Lights, a community-based Christian Youth Choir, presents “Prodigal,” a musical based on the songs of Casting Crowns. The performances will be 7 p.m. May 18 and 19 at Abundant Life Baptist church – The Core, 400 S.W. Parsels Road, Lee’s Summit.
