 John David Kroeger, son of Ronald J. and Viva Rae Kroeger of Independence, has been called to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will serve in the Phoenix Mission, teaching, preaching and speaking in Spanish. He reports Feb. 27 and will serve for two years.

Kroeger has been working as a carpenter for Brad Olsen Construction to raise money for his mission, and teaches locally with missionaries in the evening. He is a high honors graduate of Van Horn High School, an Eagle Scout, and youth leader in the church.

His farewell address will be at 9 a.m. Feb. 17 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Norfleet Road in Kansas City.
