Genealogical Society to present speaker

The Jackson County Genealogical Society (JCGS) will present guest speaker Gary Toms on “Sources and Approaches for African/American Family History” in celebration of Black History Month.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Feb. 6 at the Truman Depot (Amtrak Station), 1111 W. Pacific Ave., Independence.

Toms, a reference assistant at the Midwest Genealogical Center for 10 years, is a native of Independence, a charter member of the JCGS and past president of the Missouri State Genealogy Association.

The public is welcome to attend.
