Participants and viewers of Blue Springs' 40th Annual “Shortest and Smallest” St. Patrick's Day Parade get ready for the start of Friday morning's parade – a simple trek across Main Street in downtown from The Soda Fountain to The Keg that has been officially measured at 66 feet. Marilu Herrick, center and wearing glasses, co-founder and executive director of The Rainbow Center for communicative disorders, served as Honorary Grand Marshal and walked the parade route with official paraders Pat Meyer, Bill Whitley and Jim Wallace, along with Ed Schumann, an original parader who has since moved to Dallas. A couple hundred people spanned Main Street to watch the parade. [Mike Genet/The Examiner]
