Independence police continue to investigate a shooting late Thursday at a QuikTrip that left one person injured.

Police said they were called at 10:32 p.m. to the convenience store at Missouri 291 and Gudgell Road, where they found one shooting victim who had suffered non-life-threatening injuries. As of Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made.

Security footage from QuikTrip released by police shows one male suspect get out of a car parked in front of the store and fire an assault-style firearm multiple times at an unseen target. As he rushes back to the car, another male runs out of the store and gets in the driver's seat, then drives the car away.

Police said the shooter fired 18 rounds in all, and the victim was in the parking area, not in a vehicle. Watch the video at

A white pickup truck seen driving away as the shooting ended is not believed to have been a target, and the driver was not believed to have been injured, but police are hoping to locate that driver as a witness.
