The annual Police Officers Memorial Service, for the Independence and Sugar Creek police departments, was Wednesday afternoon at the Truman Museum and Library. The ceremony included music from the Van Horn High School concert choir, Roll Call of Heroes – officers who died in the line of duty – in which roses are placed on the memorial wreath, a 21-gun salute after lowering the flag, playing of "Taps" and "Amazing Grace" on trumpet and bagpipe, respectively.
