Join the Independence School District and the Independence Health Department for the annual ISD Wellness Expo and 5K. ISD and the Health Department know how important it is to keep our community healthy, so we are teaming up to bring a free health expo and 5K to the community. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in the assortment of services that will be provided.

If you want to participate in the free 5K, you can register online at Make sure to register by July 17 to be chip-timed. The first 250 to register for the 5K will even receive a free T-shirt.

Several free services and activities will be offered to the community. These include:

• A free 5K

• Free sports physicals for ISD middle and high school students

• Diagnostic Imaging Centers Mobile Mammography Bus

• Tdap and meningococcal vaccines

• Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments

• Blood pressure checks

• Foot screenings

• Postural screenings

• Chair massages

• Dental screenings

• Financial assistance/education

• Stress management

• School bus safety

The purpose of the Wellness Expo and 5K is to provide valuable services to our community. It also aims to increase the awareness of several health topics through education and prevention methods and encourage everyone to take steps toward leading a healthy lifestyle.

The Independence Wellness Expo and 5K is scheduled for Saturday, July 22, and both the 5K and Expo start at 9 a.m. It will be at William Chrisman High School, 1223 N. Noland Road, at the corner of Noland Road and U.S. 24 in Independence.

To make the event even more exciting, there will be a DJ, Mac the Mavericks mascot, entertainment, free tote bags for the first 250 to arrive, and other giveaways.
