Garrett's motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a tree and overturned.

Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run
The Highway Patrol said it is still searching for the tractor-trailer that fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run on Interstate 70 in Blue Springs late Saturday.
An Iowa man, Jeffrey Koontz, 39, was on the eastbound roadway of I-70 east of Woods Chapel Road at 10:55 p.m. Saturday when he was hit by the tractor-trailer. A Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 26-year-old Oak Grove woman and a Saturn Ion driven by an 18-year-old Blue Springs woman then hit Koontz. Both of those drivers remained at the scene.
The Highway Patrol said it does not consider Koontz's death to be suspicious.
