All kids from 9 to 99 can follow a young girl and her fairy godmother into an equine dreamland and experience the majesty, splendor and amazement of the Gala of the Royal Horses at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

World-renowned riding master Rene Gasser brings his stunning Gala of the Royal Horses: Carousel of Dreams to Independence for a live performance, featuring the most beautiful and respected horses in the world.

“We are bringing ‘the Royal Horses of Europe’ to Independence,” Gasser said by phone Wednesday afternoon. “They include the Lipizzaner Stallion, the Spanish Andalusian, the Friesian and the majestic Arabian horse. We want to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone who attends. It does not matter the age, as we will bring out the child in everyone in the audience.”

While watching some of the most majestic horses on the planet, patrons can dream along with this young girl as she explores the magic of her dreams and works to find her purpose in life.

“The unique qualities of the Royal Horses single them out from all other breeds in the Equine world,” Gasser said. “Their physical beauty & grace, coupled with exceptional courage and nobility make them an object of admiration and a source of inspiration for horse lovers everywhere.

“This show is very special to me for many reasons. We created it, and have added the story of the young girl, who is modeled after my own daughter. And as a father, what can be better than that?

“Plus, so many people come up to me after the show and tell that this has made them fall in love with horses again. And that is a great joy for me. If you have never loved an animal, like I love my horses, you can experience what that love is like by watching our Gala of Horses.”

The Gassers are an old Swiss circus family, and when Rene was born, he inherited seven generations of circus tradition.

This inheritance led him to a life’s experience in performing and showmanship. He worked as a lion trainer, acrobat, gymnast and strongman as well as horse trainer.

“We traveled the world,” he explained, “from Switzerland, Germany, Israel and Ireland to Japan.”

His family developed Circus Sonelli, but he soon found life on the circus circuit was exhausting.

He wanted to create something unique, something he and his audience would love.

The Gala of The Royal Horses recreates an event only previously seen at the famous riding schools in Vienna and Spain.

“Many people are familiar with the famed Lipizzaner Stallions and their airs above the ground,” said Musser, referring to the stallion’s ability to leap high into the air while kicking its back legs. “Well, imagine that, along with the other ‘Royal Horses of Europe.’ We promise everyone it will be a magical night.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets range from $24 to $79. Tickets are available at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena Box Office or by calling Ticketmaster, 1-800-745-3000.
