Two seniors from Truman High School have been honored by the Rotary Club of Independence as students of the month.

• Keaton Wiley is a McCoy Award recipient. Other awards include an academic letter, two-time second team All Conference award, All-District Men's Choir, a 1 rating for solo and ensemble at district and state music festivals.

He has been active in varsity soccer, varsity basketball, concert and chamber choirs.

Outside of school he has volunteered at a soup kitchen, Harvester's and the Stone Church community dinner.

He plans to attend college to prepare him for a career in physical therapy, and hopes to play college soccer or basketball.

His parents are Matt Wiley and Amy Black.


• Alexis Lopez is in National Spanish Honor Society, is second team All Conference for softball and is a team leader for softball.

She has been active in varsity softball and Spanish Club. Outside of school she plays competitive softball year-round.

She plans to attend college, majoring in exercise science, eventually going into physical therapy.

Her parents are Heather and Oscar Lopez.
