Independence police are investigating a stabbing late Tuesday afternoon that left one male injured.
The stabbing occurred shortly before 5 p.m., at the 2200 block of James Downey Road, just north of 23rd Street and east of Missouri 291, according to dispatchers. Police had one male custody, and the extend of the victim's injuries are not known, dispatch said.
• Police are searching for a suspect who robbed the Family Dollar at 12521 E. U.S. 40 in southwestern Independence Monday evening. The theft occurred about 8:30 p.m., as the suspect showed a handgun and left after taking money. No injuries occurred.
