Eric Groves is the newest member of the Blue Springs School District Board of Education, after being sworn in Monday.
Groves replaces longtime board member Jennifer Casey, who moved outside of district boundaries. His appointment expires in April 2018. The board selected Groves after a process of applications and interviews.
Groves and his wife Tonya are Blue Springs residents and parents of three Blue Springs High School graduates. He is employed by UPS and the Kansas City Chiefs and is active in the community through the Blue Springs Family YMCA's Togetherhood Committee and Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
Groves is a founding member of the H.O.M.E. (Helping Others Meet Excellence) Team, a parent organization assisting new families in the district, and has received the United Way Leadership Award, the YMCA of Greater Kansas City's Hero of the Heart Award and Ford Freedom Unsung Education Award.
