A standoff in Buckner between police and a reportedly suicidal man lasted nearly three hours Monday and forced some area residents to evacuate their homes.

According to Buckner police, officers were dispatched about 8:15 p.m. to the area of Buckner-Tarsney Road and Reser Street on the south end of town for a suicidal subject. The man had threatened to set his house on fire and was believed to have possibly cut the gas line, leading police to evacuate residents from several nearby houses as a precaution.
