An attempt to cash a stolen check Monday afternoon led to a brief police pursuit and an accident at U.S. 40 and Noland Road involving the suspect vehicle and another vehicle.
No one was taken by ambulance to the hospital, police said.
Officers had responded to a 3 p.m. call at Bank of the West, 4610 S. Noland Road on an attempted forgery. The male suspect fled from the bank and drove away in a stolen pickup as officers arrived at the scene. Less than 600 feet (two football fields) away, at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Noland, the suspect vehicle ran a red light and was hit by another vehicle.
Police took the male suspect and a female occupant of the stolen truck into custody on numerous criminal charges. The case remains under investigation.
