Two seniors from Fort Osage High School have been honored by the Rotary Club of Independence as students of the month.

• Jan Salmon is football first team all area, third team all state, Homecoming king and on the state championship football team in 2015. He has been active in Stuco, football, and track and field.

Outside of school, he works for his stepfather at Kansas City Contracting.

He hopes to receive a football scholarship to attend college, where he wants to major in photography and photo-journalism. He wants to pursue a career in sports sideline or nature photography.

His parents are Susan Kessler and Walter Salmon.


• Brieanna Everts is senior class president, National Honor Society president, a scholar athlete and has maintained a GPA above 3.6 all four years of high school. She is in the health sciences program at Truman Medical Center - Lakewood to earn CNA certification.

She has been active in varsity tennis, Student Council, NHS and Health Occupations Students of America.

She plans to attend William Jewell College to major in nursing and minor in Spanish. She wants to become a neonatal nurse.

Her parents are Rhonda Everts and Mike Everts.
