Independence Police continue to investigate a pair of recent homicides in the southwest portion of the city.

Police have identified the victim of Monday's homicide as 72-year-old William Domann of Independence. Domann was found in a house at the 12500 block of East 43rd Street after police responded shortly after 10:30 a.m. to a burglary call and saw someone had forced entry into the house.

Police have not released how Domann apparently was killed. On Tuesday, IPD released to the public some video surveillance in an attempt to identify a person and vehicle of interest. A bald man with a beard, wearing a sweatshirt, is shown in a parking lot shortly after 5:30 a.m., and the vehicle is a white Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup struck. The man possibly was injured during the incident.

On Saturday afternoon, 29-year-old Brandan Ray Brown was killed during a shooting at the trailer park off 47th Street just south of U.S. 40. Brown reportedly had been working at the trailer park as a maintenance man. Another man suffered minor injuries in the shooting but was not hospitalized. Police have located a vehicle of interest in the case but have not found the person of interest, 31-year-old Jerome T. Roberson of Kansas City.

The two homicides bring Independence's 2017 total to nine, matching the number from each of the past two years.
