Two seniors from Truman High School have been honored by the Rotary Club of Independence as students of the month.
• Megan Davis is a two-time all-American dance team member, and a professional cecchetti ballerina. She is Student Council president, a member of Starsteppers, Trucrew, French Club and leadership development.
Outside of school she is active in the Cathy's Creative Dance competition team, and an intern at Three Trails Camp.
She plans to use an A+ scholarship to attend Metropolitan Community College, then transfer to UMKC to major in nutrition.
She is the daughter of Shari Davis and Jim Davis.
• Cameron Mabie has been active in competitive drama, with awards for humorous interpretation and storytelling, including winning districts and qualifying for two national tournaments. He also was voted best novice performer in competitive drama. He is a Blue Star nominee for his role as Will Parker in "Oklahoma."
He has also been active in Spanish Club, Truman's Relay for Life and several theater productions. Outside of school he has been in nine musicals in the KC area and is a Music/Arts Institute vocal student, as well as student liaison for the Leawood Stage Co.
He hopes to major in musical theater and is leaning toward Missouri State University.
His parents are Chuck and Jill Mabie.
