Christmas service at First Christian, Blue Springs

The First Christian Church of Blue Springs, Disciples of Christ, will hold a combined Christmas service on Sunday at 10 a.m., with a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 11 p.m. that evening.


Christmas Eve plans at First Christian, Independence

Independence First Christian Church will hold a special Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Sunday, 125 S. Pleasant St.

They will also be holding a community breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Dec. 30, in the Fellowship Hall. The cost is $3.50 for either a half order of biscuits and gravy or all-you-can-eat pancakes with sausage, and $5 for a full order of biscuits and gravy. All meals include coffee and juice.

Eastgate Christian plans Christmas services

Eastgate Christian Church will hold two special services to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on Sunday, 4010 S. River Blvd., Independence.

There will be a service of lessons and carols at 10:25 a.m., which will include many Christmas carols, the story of Jesus’ birth, and Communion. There will also be a service at 5 p.m., featuring Christmas music, a meditation by Rev. Joshua Patty on Jesus as the “Prince of Peace,” Communion, and will conclude with a candlelight singing of “Silent Night.”

St. Luke's UCC candlelight service Sunday

St. Luke's United Church of Christ will hold its annual candlelight Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Sunday, 727 N. Main St., Independence.

The Handbell & Chancel Choirs will provide special music, and a wonderful Communion service is planned, with the Rev. Paul Emily offering the message and the Light of Christ will be shared.


Proclaiming joy at Stone Church

This is the fourth Sunday of Advent – Joy. The theme “He will be called Son of God” with service beginning at 10:20 a.m., at the Stone Church Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence.

The message of joy will be brought by Holly Ross-Underwood. Barbara Graeff will be presider, with Rich Baldwin and Marcia Pugh also participating. Bringing life to the service through music will be John Davies, organist; Paulette Votava Resch, soprano, and the Men’s Ensemble: Randy Gunn, Terry Snapp, Charles Belcher, Henry Volskay, Eric Scott and Rich Baldwin.

There will also be a Christmas Eve service beginning at 7 p.m., which includes readings, singing, and a Bell Choir.

New Year's gospel sing at Calvary
