Officer Darin Chance, who has been with the Grain Valley Police Department for 12 years, will become the police chief in Ash Grove in southwest Missouri. Chance was sworn in Tuesday and will assume his new duties on Monday.
Chance has been school resource officer, DARE officer and crime prevention officer with the Grain Valley department.
Chance said the job will put him closer to where his parents reside, and while he's excited to take on the new responsibilities, he said leaving the Grain Valley community is “bittersweet” and that he was “very blessed” by the turnout at a sendoff party.
