Glenwood Park Methodist holds health clinic

Glenwood Park Methodist Church will hold a free health clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, 10000 E. 23rd St., Independence. The church holds the clinics on the first Saturday of the month.

The screenings, sponsored by the Black Nurse Association and the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, include glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index testing.

President Veazey to speak at Stone Church

The theme this week is “Be Baptized” at the Stone Church Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Services begin at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, and the message will be brought by Stephen M. Veazey, President of Community of Christ.

Eric Scott will be the presider, with Esther Mills and Larry Crozier also participating. During the service, Kenneth B. McClain will be set apart as Pastor of Stone Church for 2018 by Stephen Veazey and Jared Sloan.

Seminar focused on church safety

A Church Security and Active Shooter Essentials Seminar will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 16, at the Independence Police Department, 223 N. Memorial Drive, Independence.

This seminar will equip your staff and key volunteers with information that will help you protect your congregation while maintaining a welcoming environment.
