Storytime for Families: For all ages, 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; 10 a.m. Fridays. Hear stories, sing songs, join in movement activities, and more.
WeDo LEGO Robotics: Drumming Monkey: For ages 8 and older, 2 p.m. Feb. 3. Boom! Boom! Boom! Build a musical monkey and program him to drum to your beat! Kids will work in pairs to make this simple robot.
Free Tax Help for Seniors: Beginning at 10 a.m. Feb. 5, 12, 26; 10 a.m. Wednesdays. AARP Tax-Aide representatives will be at the Library to assist seniors with moderate to low incomes with tax questions and tax return preparation. No farm returns or rental properties, please. Call for an appointment.
KC’s Best Kept Jazz Secret: Millie Edwards: For adults, 7 p.m. Feb. 7. Join Mid-Continent Public Library as we share with you Millie Edwards, one of Kansas City’s best-kept jazz secrets! As a musician, Millie Edwards performs solo and as part of The Wild Women of Kansas City. Millie Edwards will transport your soul from its very depths to heights from which it will soar. Come and celebrate with song!
Resume Help with WorkExpress: For adults, 10 a.m. Feb. 7. A WorkExpress professional will be at the Library to help you write or update your resume on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. Please pick up a Resume Creation worksheet at the Library prior to the program.
Chess Free Play: For teens, 1-3 p.m. Feb. 10. Play chess, learn the basics, brush up on your chess skills, challenge other players at the library. Offered in collaboration with the Raytown High School Chess Team coaches. Chess boards and chess pieces provided.
Getting to Know Our New Catalog: For adults, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15. Need help using the new online catalog? Learn about all of the new features the Library has added to help you access the books and other materials you need and get the most out of your account!
Book Group: For adults, 10 a.m. Feb. 15, and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20. Come meet like-minded people, enjoy lively discussion, learn which books inspire others, and talk about your favorite books! Call or visit a branch to find out what they are reading next.
Easy Pillowcases: For adults, 7 p.m. Feb. 27. Create a pillowcase to match your decor, the season, your mood, or give it as a gift. These easy-to-sew custom pillowcases come together in an hour. A limited number of sewing machines will be available, so feel free to bring your own. A supply list is available at the branch.
Pajama Storytime: For ages 1 and older, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28. Put on your PJ’s and bring your favorite stuffed animal to the Library to hear some of Miss Jessie’s favorite stories and songs at the end of a busy day.
