Boy Scout Troop 161 of Independence will be hosting the 3rd annual “Cold Hands, Warm Hearts” campout benefiting the Crossroads Family Shelter for The Salvation Army in Independence. The purpose of this campout is to raise awareness of the homeless in Independence.
The campout will be this weekend, Feb. 9 through 11. On this weekend, the boys will be camping in an environment similar to what some homeless may experience. Scouts will have the option to sleep in a cardboard box or sleep with only a tarp and a little twine. They will eat a community meal like hobo soup and cook breakfast on the top of a metal coffee can.
Will you help us help the homeless by making a donation to The Salvation Army? Please visit http://troop161.salvationarmy.us or personally deliver the following items between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 10, to the Salvation Army Crossroads Shelter, 14700 E. Truman Road, Independence.
