The group Citizens for Effective Leadership is hosting an Independence City Council candidates forum at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Trails West Public Library, 11401 E. 23rd St. All candidates have been invited, including Mayor Eileen Weir, who is unopposed for re-election.

Three candidates filed for the two at-large council seats that are up for election – incumbent and local attorney Karen DeLuccie, county IT worker Bryce Stewart and former Independence Power & Light electric distribution manager Mike Huff. Matt Medley, a former auto plant operations manager, later filed to be a write-in candidate after current at-large Council Member Chris Whiting announced a few days before the filing deadline that he would not seek re-election.

CEL says the forum should last about 90 minutes.
