Independence Police are investigating a homicide after two victims were found Tuesday morning at a Fairmount neighborhood residence. One of the victims, a man, died after being rushed to the hospital.
According to police, officers responded at 5:30 a.m. to the 800 block of South Huttig Avenue, south of U.S. 24 on the city's west side, on an aggravated assault call. They found the critically injured man outside a residence and an injured woman also at the scene. The woman was treated at the hospital and released. Police have not released the apparent cause of the victims' death and injuries.
The man's name has not yet been released, pending family notification. Police had nobody in custody as of Tuesday afternoon and are asking for public assistance.
