A Colorado man who was arrested last year at an Oak Grove truck stop with a missing teenage girl from Springfield will spend 45 years in federal prison without parole for sexual exploitation of that victim.

Dominic Pearson, 26, of Silverthorne, Colo., was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Kansas City. He had pleaded guilty Oct. 11, 2017, to coercion and enticement of a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in illicit sexual activity and travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual activity.

According to court documents, the 13-year-old victim, identified as “Jane Doe,” was reported missing from her Springfield home Jan. 8, 2017. Investigators found a series of cell phone messages between Pearson and Jane Doe indicating that Pearson was traveling to meet her. Officers found them two days later, both with luggage, in a lounge at Petro Truck Stop off Interstate 70 in Oak Grove. Pearson told investigators that he was taking the girl to Denver.

The case investigated by Springfield and Oak Grove police, the FBI and the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force.
