The Raytown Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of April. The library is located at 6131 Raytown Road. All activities are free, but registration is required, call 816-353-2052.

Free Tax Help for Seniors: Beginning at 10 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through April 15. AARP Tax-Aide representatives will be at the Library to assist seniors with moderate to low incomes with tax questions and tax return preparation. No farm returns or rental properties, please. Call for an appointment.

Interior Design Trends for 2018: For adults, 7 p.m. April 3. Join interior designer Lisa Holiman for a look at this year’s design trends and see how you can translate them into your spaces without spending tons of money.

Email for Beginners: For adults, 2 p.m. April 5. Email is the most common form of communication used today. Learn to understand your inbox, as well as how to write effective emails.

Chess Free Play: For teens, 1-3 p.m. April 14. Play chess, learn the basics, brush up on your chess skills, challenge other players at the library. Offered in collaboration with the Raytown High School Chess Team coaches. Chess boards and chess pieces provided.

Job Fair with Work Express: For adults, 1 p.m. April 18. Explore your employment options at a free job fair presented by Mid-Continent Public Library in partnership with Work Express. Meet with motivated employers looking for workers in a variety of positions. Come prepared to apply and possibly interview for jobs.

Book Group: For adults, 10 a.m. April 19. Come meet like-minded people, enjoy lively discussion, learn which books inspire others, and talk about your favorite books! Call or visit a branch to find out what they are reading next.

Beginning Watercolor: For adults, 6:30 p.m. April 24. Explore the tools, materials, and foundational techniques of watercolor painting with instructors from the Kansas City Art Institute’s School for Continuing and Professional Studies. Paint a subject from direct observation and leave with a finished painting. Materials will be provided.

KC Zoomobile – Australia: For ages 5 and older, 2 p.m. April 28. Go on an Australian-themed adventure with the Kansas City Zoo. Learn Aussie folklore and culture, and meet some animal friends from “down under.” Join the Zoo staff, and learn something new about Australia!
