U.S. Supreme Court

The Truman Library Institute and the Historical Society for the Western District of Missouri will host a free program Thursday about the nation's highest court.

“The Supreme Court in the age of President Trump” will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W. 47th St., Kansas City.

Featured guests are Washington Post columnist David Von Drehle and Joan Biskupic, who has covered the Supreme Court for 25 years. Biskupic is a journalist, author and lawyer who is editor of legal affairs for Reuters and a legal analyst for CNN who has written several biographies of Supreme Court justices and currently is working on a biography of Chief Justice John Roberts.

The guests will discuss the court's personalities, internal dynamics, institutions and individuals attempting to influence the court – noting one new justice appointed by President Trump and potential vacancies in the near future.
