The Whole Person is partnering with community volunteers to mow, rake, and weed in the yards of people with disabilities. Beginning at 8 a.m. April 21, volunteers will travel to homes across the Kansas City Metro area (four of the homes are in the Independence/Blue Springs) to help “Plant Independence – One Yard at a Time.”

This project helps people with disabilities who have trouble maintaining their yards to avoid unnecessary fines from the cities where they live. This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to give back, be outdoors, and build a stronger community through their service.

The Whole Person, a nonprofit center for independent living, will provide assistance with general yard work to individuals with disabilities.

The deadline to sign up is April 9. Contact Kelly Grooms at kgrooms@thewholeperson.org or call 816-627-2232. For more details, visit http://thewholeperson.org/get-involved/volunteer/planting-independence.html
