Independence Police and members of Homeland Security Investigations conducted an undercover operation against prostitution and human trafficking crimes in various locations in the city.

 

The operation, announced this week, led to two possible sex trafficking victims identified and 18 suspects arrested, according to police – 10 for prostitution (2 felonies), eight for patronizing prostitution (one felony), nine for drug violations (five felonies), two for warrants and one for aiding in commission of a misdemeanor. One warrant had a nationwide extradition with no bond. The suspects had total of 28 criminal charges.

The identification of possible sex trafficking victims will lead to further investigations, police said.
