Glenwood Park United Methodist offers health clinic

Glenwood Park Methodist Church will hold a free health clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, 10000 E. 23rd St., Independence. The church holds the clinics on the first Saturday of the month.

The screenings, sponsored by the Black Nurse Association and the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, include glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index testing.

'Peace Be with You' is theme at Stone Church

This Sunday the theme is “Peace Be with You” at Stone Church Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. The service begins at 10:20 a.m.

The speaker is Rich Baldwin, with Greg Savage presiding. Others bringing ministry are Sharon Hannah and Karen Cross. Ministry of Music by Sandra Byrne accompanied by Paulette V. Resch. Music for the service provided by Sherry McClaran.

Also, all are invited to the Performance of Elijah on April 14.

Mayor Weir to address Ministerial Alliance

The Independence Ministerial Alliance will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Ennovation Center, 201 N. Forest Ave., No. 130, Independence.

Mayor Eileen Weir will be the guest speaker and will discuss “Independence For All.”

St. John LaLande hosts 'Rezound!'

Rezound!, Kansas City's auditioned community handbell ensemble, will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, 805 N.W. R.D. Mize Road, Blue Springs.

This event features arrangements of classical and popular tunes, as well as original compositions performed in Rezound!’s style. In addition to a year-round concert schedule in the Kansas City region, Rezound! has enjoyed tours throughout the Midwest and has collaborated with area choirs in a variety of concert settings. The ensemble also shares the stage with the Kansas City Symphony and Symphony Chorus on their annual Christmas Festival concerts.

This concert is free and open to the public. Donations accepted.

Lutheran women to gather in KC

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League Missouri District Kansas City South Zone 2018 Spring Rally will be held April 14, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7500 Oak St., Kansas City. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the opening devotion at 9:30 a.m.

The rally theme is “Gifted to Glorify,” and the program will be information on various care ministries. “Gifts of the heart” will be items and monetary donations for local food pantries.

St. Mark's Catholic plans golf tournament

St. Mark’s Catholic Church will be hold its 14th annual Golf Tournament on April 27, at Adams Pointe Golf Course. Shotgun start at 8 a.m. Proceeds will benefit St. Mark the Evangelist Youth Group.
