The Raytown Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of May. The library is located at 6131 Raytown Road. All activities are free, but registration is required, call 816-353-2052.

• Resume Help with Work Express: For adults, 10 a.m. May 2. A Work Express professional will be at the Library to help you write or update your resume on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. Please pick up a Resume Creation worksheet at the Library prior to the program.

• Basic Yoga: 10 a.m. Wednesdays, May 2-16. This restorative 3-week class with slow-paced stretching, includes some simple breathing exercises, and perhaps seated meditation. This is a good place to learn basic poses, relaxation techniques, and to become comfortable with yoga. All levels welcome.

• More Off the Beaten Path: For adults, 7 p.m. May 8. Join Alexis Webb Bechtold and Traci Angel as they share more new and lesser-known attractions in the Kansas City area. Find out about fun and unusual places to visit this summer.

• Using Your iPad for the First Time: For adults, 2 p.m. May 10. Learn some of the basic tips and tricks for using an iPad tablet.

• Chess Free Play: For teens, 1-3 p.m. May 12. Play chess, learn the basics, brush up on your chess skills, challenge other players at the library. Offered in collaboration with the Raytown High School Chess Team coaches. Chess boards and chess pieces provided.

• Book Group: For adults, 6:30 p.m. May 15, and 10 a.m. May 17. Come meet like-minded people, enjoy lively discussion, learn which books inspire others, and talk about your favorite books! Call or visit to find out what they're reading next.

• Summer Learning Spectacular Kick-Off: For all ages, 6:30 p.m. May 23. Celebrate your Summer Learning Program with fun activities at your Library! Earn SLP points too!

• Face Painting Paradise Glitter & Black Tattoo Fun: For all ages, 6:30 p.m. May 23. Come out and enjoy the excitement of Face Painting Paradise Glitter and Black Tattoos! Choose from more than 100 design options. These designs are waterproof and last up to 3-5 days!

• Rock Your Library: For all ages, 2 p.m. May 30. Discover the stacks of magic in store for you when you explore the Library with the Fishin’ Magicians. With magic, puppets, and more than a few laughs, the Fishin’ Magicians show how you can rock the Library!
