The GFWC Beverly Shelton Girls Town Club will host its annual benefit/silent auction/card party/luncheon from noon to 3 p.m. June 1, at Westminster Hall, 417 W. Lexington Ave., Independence.
The cost is $10 per person and includes lunch, individual table prizes and door prizes. Everything is contributed by club members, friends and businesses so that every penny taken in goes directly to Missouri Girls Town, a home for abused girls in Kingdom City.
The Club, a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) was organized 46 years ago for the sole purpose of supporting Missouri Girls Town and through the years it has raised thousands of dollars for this purpose. The concept of Missouri Girls Town was born in 1952 with the idea to help abused and neglected girls in Missouri.
The benefit is open to the public, but reservations are required. To register, call Beverly Shelton, club President, at 816-373-0573
