The families and relatives of Rev. Jesse H. Kern and Opha Mary Hightower Kern will come from across the country and arrive at the Lake of the Ozarks for a family reunion July 20 through 22. The family wishes to extend an invitation to all descendants and relatives to join them at the Lake of the Ozarks and welcomes the opportunity to share stories and information about our relatives and family members.
Jesse’s father was Konrad Kern, who settled in Blue Springs. He had two wives. The first was Emery Smith, the second was Almyra Gunter.
The main activities will include dinner on Friday night, a Saturday picnic and lake activities, along with golfing and a boat excursion. There will be plenty of activities for the young and old alike and detailed genealogy for interested parties.
As time gets nearer we will contact everyone with more details and updates, provided we have a phone number or email address.
For an information packet on the reunion, please contact Elise’ K Long at firstname.lastname@example.org or Mary Dycus Whitaker at email@example.com.
The Hightower’s, Whittenburg’s, Dyche’s, Hyde’s and Walker’s came mostly from the South of Missouri in the counties of Wright and Webster.
The Kern’s, Gunter’s and Warford’s came from the Kansas City area in the counties of Jackson and Clay.
Relatives from both the Kern family and the Hightower family moved to Montana, Oklahoma and Texas.
