Kansas City VA Medical Center will host the 8th annual VA2K Walk & Roll on May 16, at 4801 E. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City. This is a free and participants are asked to at the gazebo near parking lot #2 thirty minutes prior to the 11 a.m. start.

Participants are encouraged to bring a voluntary donation, which will be collected and distributed to local homeless veterans. Donations are not required to participate.

Suggested donations – Household items: Unopened cleaning supplies; new brooms, mops and sponges; paper towels; toilet paper; dish sets (4 place settings); silverware (4-8 place settings); drinking cups; cooking set (pots, pans, etc.); clean kitchen or bathroom trash cans (10 gallon or less); small laundry baskets. Backpack items: Toothbrushes, wet wipes; socks; T-shirt; combs/brushes; first aid kits; Chapstick; dry shampoo; soap; jerky; hard candy/gum etc. Bring items with you to participate or, drop off at the Voluntary Services Department near the Hall of Heroes.

Twenty-six vendors and organizations from the Kansas City area will be exhibiting during the event. A “tiny house” from the Veterans Community Project will be on display and representatives from RideKC will be on hand with their specially wrapped veterans bus to share route information and provide details on how Veterans can ride for free.
