On July 5, the nationally broadcast American Public Media program “Pipedreams” will be at the Community of Christ Auditorium, 1001 W. Walnut St., for an event called “Pipedreams Live!”

This is one of the many music events during the American Guild of Organists’ national convention July 2-6 at venues around Kansas City.

“Pipedreams” host Michael Barone will feature seven young performers from the world of classical pipe organ who have recently won regional competitions held across the U.S. and sponsored by Warrensburg organ builder Michael Quimby. The Quimby Rising Stars are Ben Kerswell, Bruce Xu, Clara Gerdes, Collin Miller, Dominic Pang, Jiaqi Shao and Matthew Bickett.

The event also includes organist Michael Unger premiering the final pieces in the “Pipedreams,” commissioned set of Preludes and Fugues in Jazz Style by Henry Martin.

Tickets for this come-and-go event that runs from 3:30 to 7 p.m., are $20 at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3208541 or at the door the day of the performance.

Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Auditorium during the performances. Tickets for the dinner are an additional $20 and must be purchased separately by June 15. Contact John Braum at johnwayne66@sbcglobal.net and indicate choice of entrée: Beef brisket, fried chicken, honey ham or vegetarian.
