The _meric_n Red Cr_ss needs help to bring back the A's, B's and O's. This is not a typo. These letters represent blood types, and the reality is that during blood shortages these letters do go missing from hospital shelves. Donors of all blood types are urged to donate to help prevent delays in patient care this summer.

Upcoming blood donation opportunities in Jackson County are: Independence – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 11, Redwood of Carmel Hills, 810 E. Walnut St., and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 14, Lifegate Church, 2911 Blue Ridge Blvd.; Lee's Summit – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 9, Lowe's, 1830 Chipman Road.

Make an appointment to donate blood by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-733-2767.

To speed up your blood and platelet donations, use the RapidPass to complete your pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online on the day of your donation at RedCrossBlood.org/Rapid Pass or use the Blood Donor App.
