A two-vehicle collision killed one person and injured two others Sunday afternoon in eastern Independence, and police continue to investigate the crash.
The fatal crash happened about 1:14 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Little Blue Parkway and RD Mize Road. According to police, a Ford Escape northbound on Little Blue made a left turn onto RD Mize and was hit by a southbound GMC Sierra. The driver and rear passenger in the Escape were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the front passenger in the Escape was killed on impact. That person's name has not been released, pending family notification.
The driver of the Sierra was treated and released at the scene.
