A plane crashed near Atherton around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and local first responders confirmed.

Fort Osage Fire Protection District Captain Andrew Donner said the agency received a call at 8:38 a.m. Personnel treated minor injuries of two people at the scene, but no one went to the hospital.

As for the plane, the department did not specify overall damage, with Donner simply calling it “unflyable.”

Public affairs personnel for the Federal Aviation Administration Liz Cory said the plane crashed two miles southwest of Martens Airfield, which would be about a mile northeast of Atherton. She would not release names of who was on the plane, and said that additional details are still under investigation.
