Pups on the Patio: Saturday, 12 p.m.-5 p.m. East Forty Brewing, 1201 W. Main St., Blue Springs. This fundraiser for Wayside Waifs will invite owners to bring their dogs for patio socializing. Wayside Waifs will also bring the dogs in their care. East Forty Brewing will donate 25 percent of proceeds from their Dog Days Wheat beer to Wayside Waifs. They will also accept donations, including training treats, wet cat food, peanut butter, dog food, cleaning supplies and dog and cat toys.

“A Few Good Men”: Saturday, 7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. City Theatre of Independence, 201 N. Dodgion St. This City Theatre production chronicles the story of military lawyers who discover a high-level conspiracy. Tickets are $15 and $13 for seniors.

Run for Adoption 5K: Sunday, 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Waterfall Park, 4501 S. Bass Pro Drive, Independence. FosterAdopt Connect hosts this family-friendly 5K in honor of National Adoption Month. Tickets are $35.75 before race day and $40 the day of, and can be ordered on fosteradopt.org.

Peace Pavilion Variety Show and Silent Auction: Sunday, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Peace Pavilion, 607 W. Lexington St., Independence. Local performers will share their work. In addition, artists will sell their pieces as part of the silent auction fundraiser. All proceeds will support Peace Pavilion, a nonprofit children’s museum that teachers conflict resolution, diversity and environmental sustainability.

Holiday’s Best Arts and Crafts Fair: Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Blackburn Elementary, 17302 East R.D. Mize Road, Independence. This holiday-themed fair will feature over 40 makers and vendors. Proceeds will benefit various charities, including cancer research and March of Dimes.
