Election night is over and some surprises crept up in the final results for area school boards.
Oak Grove
One incumbent in the Oak Grove Board of Education lost re-election while there is a tie for third place for the second consecutive year. Troy Pavlica came in first with 576 votes (23.62) percent followed by Ricki Lawler with 498 votes (20.43 percent). There is a tie for the third and final spot between Jennifer Smith and incumbent Sue Alexander, who both received 486 votes (19.94 percent). Incumbent Scott Fleming finished in last with 392 votes (16.07).
All of the results are unofficial. All ballot machines from Jackson, Lafayette and Johnson counties will have to be returned and all ballots will have to be accounted for. The election will then have to be certified by the Oak Grove Board of Education and if a tie still remains, a recount can be requested.
Lee’s Summit
Only one incumbent in Lee’s Summit was re-elected. Jack Wiley received 3,331 votes (24.62 percent) followed by Terri Harmon with 3,130 votes (23.13 votes) and Christopher Storms with 3,083 votes (22.79 percent). Incumbent Jon Plaas finished in fourth with 2,091 votes (15.45 percent) and Michael Smith finished in fifth place with 1,835 votes (13.56 percent).
Raytown
Both incumbents were re-elected in Raytown. Terry E. Landers received 2,162 votes (28.45 percent), Rick Moore received 1,957 votes (25.75 percent) and Jerome Barnes received 1,510 votes (19.87 percent). Eric Teeman finished fourth with 983 votes (12.93 percent) and Lee Martin placed fifth with 969 votes (12.75 percent).
