Independence police are looking for three to four suspects who assaulted a man in far northwest Independence early Tuesday.
Police spokesman Tom Gentry said officers were called to the 8800 block of East Winner Road at 12:43 a.m. on an aggravated assault with a handgun.
Witnesses told police that three to four people chased the victim into his home and assaulted him, shooting him with a handgun. The bullet grazed the victim in the back of the head. He was taken to the hospital, treated, and released.
The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money and other items. They were described as light skinned black and/or Hispanic males.
