Criminal charges of abandoning a corpse against two brothers have not been dismissed.

Lance Gross and Marlin Gross were charged in January for abandoning the body of Peggie Perez, 48, who died at Lance’s Blue Springs home following a night of rough sex.

The Examiner reported on Tuesday that the charges had been settled and dismissed. That was for a civil case, not a criminal case.

Lance told police that he injected the woman with Valium while they were having sex. He also used a red dog collar to choke her, according to court documents released at the time.

When he awoke, Perez was dead. Three days later, Lance and his brother, Marlin, took the body to an area in the 31000 block of T Highway, approximately 2 miles west of Garden City, Mo., and dumped it into a creek, the court documents indicated.

Marlin had remained at large after Perez’s body was found. He turned himself in days after Lance was arrested.

A hearing has been scheduled for Lance for July 20, and an arraignment has been scheduled for Marlin on July 16.
