It was a deadly weekend on the roads in Eastern Jackson County as three people were killed in three separate traffic crashes.

Motorcycle crash kills KC man on Truman Road
The first crash occurred shortly before midnight Friday. Jimmie R. Ferguson, 47, of Kansas City, was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle at Truman Road and Glenwood Avenue in Independence when he lost control and was thrown off. He was pronounced dead at Centerpoint Medical Center.

Parkville man dies in car crash on Kentucky Road
According to the Independence Police Department, the motorcyclist was driving at a high rate of speed going west on Truman Road before losing control. He had no passenger.
The second crash happened about 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning at Kentucky Road and Arlington Avenue.
Aaron B. Laramore, 23, of Parkville, was driving a black 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix west on Kentucky Road. The Independence Police Department also believes he was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control, ran off the road and struck a tree. He was alone in the vehicle.
He was taken to North Kansas City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Blue Springs man killed
The final accident was at 11:30 a.m. Sunday on Valley View Road, just north of Heartland Drive.
Terry L. Simms, 44, of Blue Springs, was killed when he lost control of the Geo Prism he was driving and struck on oncoming vehicle on Valley View Road.
The vehicle was traveling south on Valley View Road north of Heartland Drive when Simms veered off the road to the right, overcorrected to the left and went out of control. The Prism went into the oncoming lane and was hit by a 1994 Toyota Corolla going north on Valley View Road.
The occupants of the Corolla, a 65-year-old Blue Springs man and his wife, 62, were taken to Centerpoint with non life-threatening injuries, according to Independence police.

Investigations continue
Alcohol is believed to have contributed to the motorcycle crash, but police are waiting for toxicology reports before saying whether it was a factor in the Grand Prix crash.
All three accidents remain under investigation.
These were the  sixth, seventh and eighth traffic fatalities in Independence this year, compared to 10 at this time last year.
