An Independence man wouldn’t go quietly into the night early Sunday morning.
The man, approaching his vehicle outside his home in the 15000 block of East 45th Terrace at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday, told police he was struck on the head from behind.
On the ground for a moment, the man then stood up and pulled out a handgun and fired five rounds. He described his assailants as two African-American males, both of whom ran and entered separate cars, according to police.
One of the rounds struck a suspect’s vehicle, and another struck a neighbor’s tire. They then fled the scene.
Police spoke at length with the victim.
“He was cooperative,” spokesperson Tom Gentry said.
Anyone with information should call 474-TIPS.
