Independence man, Gordon Robinson, killed in traffic crash

Gordon M. Robinson, an Independence man, was killed Friday in a two-vehicle collision on U.S, 63 in Osage County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that Robinson was traveling north on U.S. 63 just north of Route E at about 3:30 p.m. when his 2008 Mazda ran off the right side of the road.

Robinson, 20, overcorrected and his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane into the path of an oncoming Freightliner driven by Vincent W. Falter of Freeburg, Mo. The Freightliner hit the Mazda, which then went down a steep embankment.

Robinson was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m.
