Attorney recognized to local legal work

Jason Rew, 35, a partner in the law firm of Cochran, Oswald & Roam, was recognized in a recent issue of “Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly” for his representation of an apartment complex owner who sued the city of Oak Grove because of repeated sewer backups.


In addition, Rew received the publication’s Up and Coming Award for his work. He was among about 40 attorneys to receive the award statewide for attorneys younger than 40.


The case was tried before a jury, which awarded the owner more than $110,000. The decision subsequently was upheld by the Missouri Supreme Court.


When he’s not at work, Rew, who lives in Lee’s Summit, volunteers offering free legal assistance to Blue Springs senior citizens, mostly offering help with wills and consumer issues. Rew is a 1991 Blue Springs High School graduate.
